On Thursday 4th November, some of the leading IT channel professionals gathered in Moorgate, London for the CRN ON: Discovering New Horizons event. Sponsored by leading global channel services provider Agilitas IT Solutions, the event focused on sustainability and why channel firms must work together to make an impact in the face of the climate crisis.
Richard Eglon, Chief Marketing Officer at Agilitas IT Solutions, says: “It was fantastic to have a people-facing event again and feel some sense of normality. The topics of this year’s discussions were extremely encouraging and motivating, especially as our industry is leading the way and making significant progress with sustainability. It was great to see many familiar faces, including some of our partners and other leaders in the UK’s IT channel industry.”
The programme included a number of keynote sessions focusing on three key topics: sustainability, culture and corporate responsibility. Speaking on how the technology industry can focus on these themes were Sarah Yirrell (Consulting Editor, CRN and Channel Partner Insight), Shaun Lynn (CEO of Agilitas), Sonya Bhonsle (Global Head of Value Chains & Regional Director Corporations) and Joel Berwitz (Chief Revenue Officer at Boxxe).
There was also a panel discussion on how the channel firms of the future can embrace the opportunities that are being provided because of sustainability. Shaun Lynn (CEO of Agilitas), as well as Paul Barlow (CEO of Servium), Jon Sansom (Managing Director of Greensafe IT Ltd.) and John Gladstone (Sustainability Lead at Softcat plc) took part to provide their thoughts on future-proofing businesses through making sustainable changes.
Shaun Lynn says: “This year’s sustainability theme is now more important than ever. Although taking care of our environment has always been a top priority, now we can see businesses making noise and taking accountability for their part in damaging the planet. For channel companies operating in the supply chain, it has meant that they have had to adjust their services and support processes to provide a more sustainable offering for their partners. We may not see the positive effects straight away, but we can be assured that technology is driving the innovation needed to lead other industries.”
Richard Eglon concludes: “We’d like to thank CRN for providing this platform for those in the channel to get together and collaborate. By working together, we can make a more substantial impact on the climate crisis. We look forward to doing this again next year and seeing how the industry has moved forward and implemented the key sustainability takeaways next year”.
