At the beginning of May, Agilitas Marketing & Design Executive Eva Luna-Rose spoke at the first Rise Ability Conference in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University Employability and EmployAbility Ltd, the leading force for a truly disability-inclusive workplace. The conference, held at Nottingham Trent University, aimed to create a unique opportunity for students to hear about inclusivity in recruitment and learn more from Disability Confident employers.

Featuring a range of panels and workshops including sessions from Paralympic athlete and motivational speaker Richard Whitehead MBE, the event strived to empower talented neurodivergent and disabled graduates to build the careers they deserve. Double gold medallist Richard Whitehead spoke on the importance of representation saying, “If someone doesn’t look like me how can I know that I can do it? It starts with education to represent the community outside.” He went on to address the importance of inclusion in the workplace saying that “it shouldn’t be a tick box, it should be a mindset change”.

Nottingham Trent alumni Eva was invited to contribute to a panel discussion on disability in the workplace and talk about how disability has affected her career. A Marketing & Design Executive at Agilitas, Eva has been open about her experiences as a disabled woman in the workplace and is passionate about creating an inclusive environment for the next generation of disabled and neurodiverse employees.

“Being asked to be part of this panel is amazing and I am so pleased that more people are giving opportunities for conversations about disability and neurodiversity,” Eva shared. “It was great to have the chance to connect with young people and students and provide representation for disability in the workplace.”
